Re: My photos are missing from LR.  I've read all the forums, tried the fixes, and nothing works.  Ready to dump LR.

If one day you edit photos, and the next day they're gone, then, assuming you are opening the same catalog from one day to the next (and aren't inadvertently removing photos etc..), then your catalog is wonky or something. I wouldn't blame you for scrapping Lr in that case (I wouldn't, but to each their own), but just beware: if your Lr-catalog is going bonkers, there is a good chance your C1-catalog will go bonkers too (or some such problem..) - i.e. you may have system or hardware problems..

Obviously none of us have been able to view the screenshots, but I did read your more informative comments, and was able to glean some more from them - although I still couldn't tell why the "relocate missing files/folders" thing wasn't working, I think I gleaned that "it wasn't working somehow"..

PS - The usual way to recover if current catalog is bonkers:

1. Find most recent backup that isn't bonkers.

2. Re-import (hopefully taking advantage of saved xmp) newer photos.

PPS - Maybe Bridge and Photoshop were meant for you (maybe Lightroom doesn't like you for some reason ).

PPPS - For me, Lightroom/catalog has been very reliable. I've had other problems (e.g. with preferences), but not catalog (or at least nothing "too serious"..).

Cheers n' good-luck,

Rob
